Plano Invisalign Dentist

Many people are self-conscious about their teeth. Commonly, braces have been used to correct issues such as gaps, crookedness, and overcrowding. It is safe to say that for many people, the idea of having a mouth full of metal and wires is not one that is welcomed, even when a beautiful, straight smile is the outcome.

Invisalign is a breakthrough in dental technology. Invisalign utilizes clear, plastic forms that are placed upon the teeth. These forms gradually shift the teeth into the desired position. Every few weeks, a new form is created and your smile can be perfected in as little as 6 months.

The Invisalign procedure is quite simple. A mold will be taken of your teeth at each appointment. Dr. Sowell will make a slight adjustment of the mold. This mold is sent directly to Invisalign who creates the plastic aligner. This aligner will make gradual changes to your smile. At your next appointment, your teeth will be molded again and the whole process will repeat. Most people require anywhere from twenty to thirty aligners. Each aligner may be worn from two to four weeks at a time.

The aligners are easily cleaned with a toothbrush and are removed when eating. This is an added benefit to Invisalign as compared with braces. Braces make it extremely difficult to brush, let alone floss. Invisalign aligners are completely removable and easy to clean. This allows you to brush and floss your teeth. People who grind their teeth while sleeping may require a traditional retainer to wear at night to make sure the plastic aligners are not broken.

You can smile without any embarassment during your entire Invisalign treatment. Once your Invisalign treatment is over, Dr. Sowell may suggest that you wear the last aligner nightly to maintain your smile. Invisalign produces results equal to and often more quickly than those seen with braces. Moreover, you are not left with teeth marked with leftover adhesive from braces! This in itself requires an additional dental appointment for cleaning.

Nearly every dental issue - from overcrowding to underbites and overbites - can be resolved by using Invisalign. Please come in for a consultation and see if Invisalign is right for you.
