Designing Your Smile: Smile Evaluation
A beautiful smile is a very personal experience. Dallas cosmetic dentist Dr. Sowell will take you through each step in helping you find the look you like. A good starting point is to find the smile of a model or celebrity you admire and bring it in to the Dallas cosmetic dentistry office. Dr. Sowell will listen to your desires and show you the possible results with a digital photograph. From there, the size, length, color, symmetry, shape of the teeth and gum will be selected. Your lip line, jaw angle, eye position and profile will be evaluated. The cosmetic dentist will take photographs, radiographs and impressions once you are ready to move forward.
After your smile design evaluation is complete, Dr. Sowell will design your smile with his in-house laboratory ceramicist on your models and have you back for a trial smile or mock-up. Dr. Sowell will listen to your desires and show you the possible results with a digital photograph. Here you will see your new smile in your own mouth through a temporary tooth material. From there we will have worked out the shape of your temporaries, so we can get ready to shape your teeth from the temporary look to the final result. If there are any changes needed, the dentist and his ceramicist will custom-make these changes and the final result will be exactly what you wanted. Take the Smile Test
Look in the mirror or at a picture of yourself. Rate your smile from 1 to 10 on each of the categories below with 10 being “love it” and 1 being “hate it.”
- Appearance of your gum tissue: shows too much, irregular and uneven?
- Smile line: does the edge of your upper teeth follow the shape of your lower lip?
- Grade the whiteness of your smile
- The shape of your teeth: short and square or long and thin?
- Length of your teeth: do you show too much or too little of your teeth?
- Rotations or blank spaces between your teeth
- Alignment (symmetry) of your smile: does the left side look like the right?
If you score 56-63, you are satisfied with your smile.
If you score below 50, you should consider a smile evaluation with Dr. Sowell at the cosmetic dentistry centre.
